The story of David’s sin and his conviction of that sin by Nathan is an unfortunate classic one of the powerful taking advantage of the weak. While the weak may have some culpability (if we are honest, yes, we ask) by way of responsibility to struggle for the truth and righteousness, we also ask whether there were any bystanders who could have stood up for the weak.

Nathan Convicting David

Was there nobody to stand up for Bathsheba?

In many of the sexual assault scandals that are coming to light from the powerful in Entertainment, Politics, and journalism, we find it breathtakingly sad that those who knew at least some details of the scandals simply laughed them off.

Why was there nobody to stand up for the Bathsheba’s of today?

The audio is a brief talk I gave at the St. Andrew Catholic Church Penance Service on December 4, 2017.

God bless you,
